Ambrosia Capital HQ, Kolonaki

Ambrosia HQ project is located in a residential building of 1939 and regards the design of a Consulting Company Headquarters in the heart of Athens. Purpose of the design was to create a hub to host the clientele of the Consulting Company, that will convey a powerful profile, influence and dynamism. The office layout includes working spaces, the CEO’s office and a space for meetings and events.

The concept of the design was to retain the pre-existing compartmentation of the original layout, while introducing glass partitions in the form of capsules, defining unified and flexible working zones. These transparent cores create the sense of a larger internal space within the boundaries of the property, but also allow for ample lighting throughout the office.

A long sculptural screen of marble and walnut wood has been designed to create a continuous surface, separating the entrance and waiting room from the working spaces and auxiliary areas. The marble CNC milled screen stands powerfully in the waiting area, defining the entrance to the meeting and events space, implying amplified gravity by its materiality. A few bronze finishes add luxury to this facade. The same pattern continues on the consequent wall with a different material: walnut wood. The wooden structure incorporates discreetly the entrances to the auxiliary spaces – kitchenette and guest wc – pointing to the curved glass of the working zone at the end of the corridor. CEO’s office is placed at the far end of the space, aiming for privacy. Server room, print area, guest wardrobes and a telephone booth are efficiently added in the corridor.

Curves have been used in the geometry of partition walls, working desks and floor patterns, as to smoothen the geometrical austerity of the sculptural wall. The materials on the floor pattern alternate between oak and walnut, defining zones (ie waiting area, private lounge area inside CEO’s office) and also providing directionality. Dark ceilings in specific rooms highlight the design intent and compartmentation of the rooms, otherwise fused by the use of glass partitions. Marble washbasins in the bathrooms and bronze framed mirrors follow the palette of the main office space.
